I have always wanted to see one of those.
This is my second ... because I saw one in the Grand Canyon when I was there. This one was close -- we heard it's wings in the wind.
Awesome sighting! So they really do exist… They’re right up on top of my “before-I-die” list.
Cool Jonah -- I understand that the Pinnacles and Los Padres National Forest are good areas for sightings.According to this there are currently 72 in California and 16 in Baja. They have a considerable range so - you might be able to spot one during your regular travels. Apparently there's a nest site in Big Sur and there's info everywhere.
