I always pack way too much...that would barely be 2 nights for me (I love my toys & can't bring myself to leave any of them at home!). How long is your trip?

I am thinking I am not quite ready, Lauren ... but I am still working on it. I have a few more days to get ready.

I have the same tendency, to take to much, Panda. Once, on a trip in Europe I emptied about half of the contents of my pack into a garbage can. So I am trying really hard to plan to not bring too much on this trip, out of fear that I might have to throw something good away.

One of the things I am noticing is that you need just as much for one day as for ten, with the exception of food and fuel.

I'll be gone for five days, driving to Phoenix and back, backpacking just two days and one night.

I'll be um ... I am not sure what ... for the rest of the time.

I have all kinds of things to figure out, like how to not eat dehydrated mac and cheese. Or, should I bring my cell phone?

Sounds like a great trip, Shawn. I am going to be backpacking in Utah a week from today. Probably White Canyon area, three days two nights. It's fun stuff, isn't it?

I have all these questions about the bear vault thingy. It's so cumbersome and heavy ... I can't imagine that it's a good thing.

I am really looking forward to my trip -- ANd I hope you have a good trip too -- Jill.
