Bobcat in the Kitchen

It's a first. It's getting warmer here and I frequently leave the doors open into the evening. I just heard a loud noise and got up to see what it was -- and there was a large cat in my kitchen. A bobcat. Dayamn. Come on in my kitchen (Delaney and Bonnie Bramlett with Eric Clapton and Duane Allman). We've had better lives, but I can't imagine when.

To be visited by a bobcat is quite an honor.

It is indeed.

You're kidding me, right? A bobcat? In your kitchen?

So, what did you DO having found a large, cat-quick, (no punn intended) carnivorous beast in your domicile? Was there an extended session of negotiation? Did it ask for a saucer of milk or a half dozen mice?

This is a great example of something that would leave me paralyzed with indecision. Do you run, make a loud noise, stand your ground? Ish.

So, I can't really describe the feeling of being that close something both gorgeous and frightening -- The initial response was clearly awe. I did what any sane person would do, I reached for the camera. At the split second my attention left the cat, he vanished into the night. "Cat quick" is a serious understatement.

Someone reaching for the camera makes me want to run away also; a perfectly reasonable decision.. ;)
